The Barnes and Noble Nook was first unveiled in early 2010 may even 2009. The first version of the nook was not that impressive and the nook review barely scraped by and had horrible ratings. There were a lot of problems that were reported with the nook pre-release. Barnes and Noble has done that and a few years later and several updates down the road its 2011 so here is your 2011 nook review. Now we get to find out how far this device has came along since its original release date.
The style and dimensions.
This is pretty much the same as when the nook initially came out. the demension of the nook are 7.7 inches by a 4.9 inch plastic with a clear polished finish on the front and a gripping textured back to keep the reader from sliding around too much. There is also a sleep button that is located on top of the device but is also used as the power button. The panel at the bottom of the nook is going to be the area where the usb ports, the devices speakers, and also a headphone jack is located.
This device is very thin at only an inch and a half. What is awesome about this ereader too is that it only weighs a little over 12oz. While this is a bit bigger than some of the other devices out there it feel a little more “quality”. And also the battery on the beast will give you literally hours of reading time.
Display
The display of the nook is pretty awesome because it actually has two different parts. There is the part at the top that is the 6 -inch part thats main purpose is to be the primary reading display. Then you will notice under the primary reading display there is a 3.5 inch tiny little lcd screen that is in color. This screen is used for navigating through the controls of the nook, and also adds some light to the screen for reading. A lot of people that are users of the ereaders agree that the little navigation lcd or e-ink is the way to go when it comes to ereaders. One problem that people have reported problems with is after getting used to using the little 3.5 inch touch screen you forget that the entire device is not touch screen so you may find yourself trying to touch parts of the nook that arent going to function.
The newest version of the nook is boasting battery life over over 10 days when you have the internet turned off. As it stands that is already a very strong feature as you can easily take it on a short trip without charging it. However kindle does beat to nook with 30 day battery life, but you will be losing some options. The nook has space to store anywhere from 1500 -2000 on just its internal memory alone. If you need more than that you can put them on a sd card and read them directly from the card.
The nook 3g with wifi is going to run you about 199 dollar and the wifi nook is going to run you around 149 dollars
